Ok, so this site isn’t making $10,000 every 10 days, not yet at least. This post is about the large number of sites I see for sale every week on various forums that supposedly make a great profit for little or no work. Even so, the owner is trying to sell it for a low price because they need money ASAP.
Usually these sales get picked apart by forum members as they reek of a scam. I recently saw a site for sale that claimed to make $15,000 a month profit and was for sale for only $15,000. When the owner was asked why he was selling for such a low price, he said he needed the money because his weeding was “just around the corner”. Now, if you were making this sort of money, especially when you were getting ready to start a new life with your partner, would you really sell for only $15k or hold on to it and make a nice, comfortable living? Yeah, didn’t think so.
If you’re in the market for an online business or are looking to get into flipping sites, ignore sites like these. I know, it sounds like a no brainer to many people but you’d be surprised at how many people think they’ve stumbled onto a real gem and start to get excited before they’ve had a chance to think it through.
While there may be some legitimate sites out there that have to be sold at a cut rate due to financial problems of the owner, these are by far the exception.
If you are interested in a site making these sorts of claims, get the sellers personal details (phone number, address, etc). This is a good idea on any sale but the more risky the proposition, the more important this is. Also, make sure the site has a good, verifiable traffic and financial history. I’ll do a post very soon on the best ways to verify these details. If the site’s only got a few months, or as some sales I’ve seen, only days, don’t even bother. There are better deals to be had.
So how about you guys, anyone here every bought one of these amazing performing sites? How did they end up doing?
