I’ve been tied up the past several days and enjoying some great beaches off the coast of Koh Chang, Thailand so I decided to do a quick post on the new SitePoint Marketwatch newsletter. I just got the first issue about 10 min ago via email since I use their marketplace.
After reading the first issue, I think it’s a good source of info and insight into the web site marketplace, listing trends and analysis of recent sales and more. Included in this first edition was a breakdown of marketplace listings by category, some tips on how to value your web site and some basic info on how to exchange payment in a manner safe for both parties.
Absent from this issue was a chart showing how many crap listings there were in recent months. I’d love to see a rating system that would let people vote on how sketchy a listing seems after say a day or so to provide time to evaluate and ask questions. Being able to sort listings by this vote would make it very easy to filter out at least some of the junk.
At any rate, check it out. If you have a SitePoint.com account, you can add the newsletter to your subscriptions at http://www.sitepoint.com/newsletter/. If not, or you don’t want to get the newsletter by email, you can read the archives at http://www.sitepoint.com/newsletter/archives.
Up next, my promised experiment post…
